I am a senior at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont. I study visual arts and the social sciences. My work is sometimes installation based, and it also drifts between architecture, photography and painting. I intern in New York, New York (1)(2) during a yearly “Field Work Term” and attempt to spend the summer in my hometown, Pomfret, Connecticut.

I spend my time gardening (doubtlessly a net loss in calories, but still enjoyed), saving the environment, going to art galleries and museums, making art, browsing bookstores (Symposium Books is one of my favorites), reading, antiquing, drinking chai lattes at Victoria Station, running, biking, hiking, attending parties and formal dinners, buying local, eating well, laughing and enjoying life.

I’m interested in typefaces, the aesthetics of dictionaries, artist books and zines, local history, wine, people, politics, urban planning, fads and popular culture, anything alive, anything old, sugaring, collections, etc.

No doubt I could never have an all-inclusive list of my favorite anything but some favorite artists that come to mind are Judy Chicago, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Christos and Jeanne-Claude, Wolfgang Tillmans, Robert Smithson, Dan Flavin, Cai Guo-Qiang, Helen Frankenthaler, Wassily Kandinsky, Auguste Rodin, Le Corbusier, Antoni Gaudi, Philip Johnson, Charles and Ray Eames, Sol LeWitt, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, Matthew Brannon, Roe Ethridge, Rita McBride, Robin Rhode and Phoebe Washburn.

Your blog is really neat and I would love to talk with you about what and how you are doing this. I see you are working here, but am not sure who you are. Do you mind identifying yourself and perhaps we can talk at some point. I am also a gardener.

Have you thought that Bennington has been a good place for you to develop as an artist and as a Mensch?
What will you do after graduation?
Your work is fun to see and to read.
Thank you,

I do think that Bennington has been a good place for me. It is a good place for artists who are serious about their work.

I have no idea what I will do after graduation. I’d like to work for a gallery or some type of arts organization, but those jobs are difficult to find.
